Every Thursday morning (except holidays) from 8:30 – 11:00 am.
The First Wednesday of every month from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm for those who work during the day.
Upon arrival, recipients are given a number. Service is “first come, first serve,” but there is always plenty of food. To qualify for service, recipients must have a family income which falls below 150% of the poverty level:
Recipients will go through a personal interview to get set up in the system. They will be able to select from a menu of staple items (peanut butter, jelly, pasta, beans, etc) which will be filled for them by volunteers in the back warehouse. In the front warehouse, clients will be able to choose from a variety of breads, fruits & vegetables, and deli items. This selection changes weekly depending on the season and current donations. All items are bagged and brought out to the recipient’s vehicle with help from volunteers. Food will be provided for up to 4 in a family. Recipients may access the pantry once per month.
Help Desk: On Thursday mornings, the Help Desk connects recipients with various services & resources available elsewhere in the community such as the Clothes Closet, medical help, social services, the SNAP program, and libraries where free computer use is available.
Service to Home Bound Seniors (South Portland only): Once each month, we deliver to qualifying low-income seniors who are home-bound due to physical limitations. Just like our in person recipients, seniors select (in advance) from a set menu which includes non-perishables, frozen meat, fruits & vegetables, and milk.
Snack Packs: Snack Packs provide an assortment of pre-packaged, snack sized foods such as applesauce, granola bars, crackers to families with children 12 & under.
